James W. Thompson, RICP, is a seasoned financial services professional with over 20 years of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners design and implement comprehensive risk management and financial planning strategies. His work focuses on estate and business liquidity planning using life insurance solutions—including Trust-Owned Life Insurance (TOLI)—as well as disability income and long-term care planning.
Jim has extensive experience supporting business owners with buy-sell funding, succession planning and non-qualified executive benefit plans. He also focuses on retirement income modeling, portfolio risk assessment, and asset allocation strategies, offering guidance to help clients make informed financial decisions.
Affiliated with an independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisor (RIA), Jim brings a client-centered, fiduciary-minded approach to financial planning. He holds life, disability, and health insurance licenses and is registered with LPL Financial. (FINRA Series 6, 63, & 65).
Beyond his professional practice, Jim has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service. He is a past president of the Seattle Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), past president and board member of his Homeowners Association (HOA) and has served on the board of Room Circus Medical Clowning - supporting patients and families at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
A lifelong Seattle resident and University of Washington graduate, Jim values community, lifelong learning, and balance. Outside of work, he enjoys biking, hiking, walking, writing, and spending time with family (2 adult children) and friends.
